Welcome to the official Home Page of 2 Hands 4 Paws pet welfare organization.  We are an all volunteer nonprofit corporation located in Rhode Island.  Our primary goal is to help pet families stay together. 

Although there will unfortunately be times when families will have no choice but to give up a beloved pet, our goal is to help families through temporary situations so they can keep their pet families intact.

Everyone knows someone who has been affected by the current recession.  Many families have lost their homes to foreclosure or eviction.  When this happens, they often have to find new housing quickly or move in with family members.  Most of the time, they will not be able to take their pets with them to their new home, which leaves them with little choice but to turn their pets into the local animal shelter.  Losing your home and uprooting your family is traumatic enough.  Since pets are a great sense of comfort in times of stress, losing your pets can make the situation even more distressing, especially since many people consider their pets part of their family.

2 Hands 4 Paws intends to help these pets and their families by providing short-term care during the transition.  This will allow families the chance to find a new home without the added stress of finding a home for their pets.  We will also provide resources to assist in finding pet-friendly housing.  If, after the specified time period, the family is still not able to take their pets back home, we will assist with finding a new loving home for their pets.

These services do not only apply to families who have lost their homes due to the economy.  We will also assist families who have been victims of disaster, have lost their home due to divorce, or are hospitalized for an extended period.  Currently, our services are available to families in Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts.

If you are unable to volunteer, but would still like to help, please click on the "Shop/Donate" link above.  We are in the process of adding new items to the online shop, where you will be able to purchase promotional products and pet-related gift items.  In the meantime, you can purchase pet food to be given to the pets in our care.  If you don't have a PayPal account, you can either sign up for a free account, or pay with your credit card through PayPal.  You can find our address at the "Contact Us" link if you prefer to mail a check.  Any donation would be greatly appreciated!  All or part of your donation may be deductible.  Check with your tax professional.
